...to the Orautoha School website. We are pleased you have come to visit and we hope you find all that you are looking for.

Our unique little school was officially opened in 1980. The site, where the school still stands today, is located in the Orautoha Valley along the Manganui-o-te-ao River. Regarded by many as a "little school", it is by no surprise, quite popular among local folk and hence boasts a current roll consisting of 48 children. The community that surrounds our school and nearby localities are bi-cultural and we acknowledge or obligation to reflect this in our school. We therefore endeavor to ensure that all students are aware of the bi-cultural nature of our community and society. 

We are also proud to be a Bronze Environment School and to maintain our valued status we:

• Cultivate 3 raised gardens.
• Have a "grow house" and "shade house" on site that our students plan, plant and harvest from every season.
• Constructed a worm farm to produce our own compost.
• Care for 5 chickens.
• Have traps set up in our wet land that the children tend to.
